Description

Gucil is a 100% natural soluble fiber. Gucil is produced by partial enzymatic hydrolysis of galactomannans (from guar gum seeds). This hydrolysis imitates the digestion in the bowel.

This fermentation serves as the basis for the physiological benefits in the body and functional properties as food additives. Gucil has average molecular weight and make a low viscosity clear solution. Gucil is a versatile agglomerated granular powder easily solubilized in water and readily dispersible into foods and beverages.

It delivers concentrated source of fiber with excellent pH, heat and freeze/thaw stability.

Clinically proved to gently regulate intestinal function and promotes a healthy colon.

Partially hydrolysed guar gum Gucil has been approved as a constituent for “Food for Special Health Use” (FOSHU) by Japan Health Food and Nutrition Food Association.

• What is the effect of using Gucil for ileostomy patients? 
  • Gucil acts as an agent to hold water, reduce the speed of GI tract transit, increase effluent viscosity, and potentially decrease water losses. Supplementation with Gucil appeared to minimise ileostomy output and improve clinical outcomes among postoperative ileostomy patients.

  • Ileostomy patients who received Gucil had significantly better ileostomy output, both in volume and consistency¹.

  • Supplementation with Gucil fibre appeared to minimise ileostomy output and improve clinical outcomes among postoperative ileostomy patients¹.

  • Gucil supplementation for 2 weeks prior to treatment and 2 weeks during pelvic radiation, at a dose of 20g daily, increased the Bifidobacteria count prior to pelvic radiation and reduced the risk of diarrhoea at post-supplementation⁷.

  • Gucil may play a prophylaxis role in minimising the effect of radiation-induced diarrhoea if given prior to the initiation of the treatment⁴.
