Description

Product Indication: Used as Health Supplement Mucoway contains 600mg of N-acetylcysteine, also known as NAC, in a convenient tablet form that is easy to swallow. NAC is a mucolytic agent which means it is able to reduce the viscosity of phlegm, making it easier to be expelled through coughing reflex. Suitable for respiratory disorder associated with productive cough, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Sinusitis, Adjuvant in the treatment if respiratory infections

Directions

Children between 6 to 12 years old take half a tablet, twice daily with meal. Adults take 1-2 tablets, once daily with meal.

Warnings

May not suitable for asthma sufferers and warfarin users.

How NAC works?

Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC) is a powerful antioxidant amino acid and a precursor to Glutathione. Glutathione with its antioxidant properties helps to decrease oxidative stress and inflammation in bronchial tubes and lung tissue. Additionally, NAC helps in breakdown of mucus by breaking the disulphide bond. It reduces the viscosity of phlegm, making it easier to be expelled through coughing reflex. This helps in facilitating better breathing and decreases congestion.

Why is NAC not suitable for asthma sufferers?

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways that results from airway narrowing and airflow limitation with airway mucus hypersecretion. The mucus thinning effect of NAC may cause obstruction of the narrowed airway and worsen the asthma symptoms.

How long does it take to see the effect?
